That’s how they start. A blank canvas, and then a very simple outline, around which I complete my doodling. I don’t have a technique, I just create dark doodles around the outline –
Fill in the spaces, until it starts to look like this –
I will post a photo of the piece once its completely finished.
Today, I am grateful for:
1. Lumberjacks. I could easily marry a lumberjack and live in his wood cabin, in the forest which he’s cutting. I look so nice in flannel. (But then again, who doesn’t?)
2. India ink. You are the darkest, and most beautiful. And man…you don’t bleed outside of the lines. If only you were a man.
3. Lemons dipped in salt. This, a palette introduced to me by my Khalto Amal since I was a little girl, while we were sitting on our front garden’s steps in Gaza. It is a habit I carry with me still and think of her every time I engage it.
